Does Your Distributed Team Need a Company Retreat?
As we discussed in our most recent podcast, a minimum goal should be for teams to come together at least once per year. But occasionally, special circumstances require that frequency to increase. Does your team qualify?
It depends on whether or not any of the following apply to you:
Have you added new members to your team since your last company gathering?
Is your team working on a major project?
Has your company recently achieved an exciting growth goal?
Do you have a department whose communication is lacking or limited by silos?
Has your company recently overcome an obstacle, such as negative publicity or budget cutbacks?
Was your last company gathering more than one year ago?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you and your distributed team would greatly benefit from getting together in-person to sync up and collaborate.
If you don’t have the budget or time to plan a retreat, you can simplify by starting with a local destination, reducing the duration of the event, or thinking creatively about big expenses, like the food and venue. Regardless of how you come together, it’s worth the investment!
