Remote Workers Build Trust Best In Person

Remote work is built on trust. And for the bulk of human history, trust-building happened in person. Before the days of video conferencing, humans met face-to-face to collaborate on projects and build stronger connections.

As advocates for remote work, we believe there’s an essential “meeting in person” component to building trust on distributed teams. It’s best practice for companies to get together at least once per year, but many distributed teams are finding it makes sense to meet face-to-face more often.

This article does a good job of explaining the science behind what is happening when remote workers (or anyone, for that matter) gets together in person. The findings may not completely surprise you, but we think the author makes a great case for prioritizing consistent get togethers, whether or not your team is fully or partially distributed.
